Story

When reading my story just change 2021 to 2022. Covid stopped my London marathon in 2021 and luckily I’m getting another opportunity.

Why London? I caught the 'running bug' after doing a couch to 5K phone app in 2011, so 2021 - 10 year anniversary - is a significant running year. It's also the year I joined the '100 Marathon Club' as a full member. I simply can't retire from marathon running until I've run the iconic LONDON marathon! This race will be marathon 101. And quite possibly *the best* if the covid situation means I get to run with circa 40,000 others, and your generosity means I raise lots for my charity.

Why Dyslexia Research Trust (DRT)? They provide specialist support for families impacted by reading difficulties. I know first hand how difficult getting dyslexia support can be. If we'd not been lucky enough to be able to access specialist psychological assessment, our child would still be undiagnosed. Getting a diagnosis aged 8 has already enabled many positive changes. Many children and adults with dyslexia get diagnosed late, or not at all, and the impacts on self-esteem and wellbeing can last a life time. DRT is a small charity that's been hit hard by the pandemic - they've lost their fundraiser post, staff hours have been cut, and the London Marathon is their only fundraiser in 2021.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to DRT.

Across the UK bright children and young adults are not meeting their full potential as they struggle to read and spell. Through special clinics, we investigate the causes of a range of learning difficulties including dyslexia and develop effective treatments to help alleviate reading problems.
