There is an urgent need for short term accommodation (previously called respite care) for children and teenagers with disabilities in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

The Disability Trust is working to meet this need by constructing Short Stay Respite House for children with a disability in Dapto.

A key space will be the addition of a sensory room equipped to stimulate the sense of sight, touch, smell and emotion of the children and teenagers in a gentle and relaxing manner.
