The Dyslexia Association provides support and services for dyslexic children and adults of all ages, also for their parents/families, educators, employers and the wider community. Their aim is to improve the lives and expectations of dyslexic people, helping them to reach their full potential.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know, I have seen how the journey through the education system for dyslexic children is made even harder by a widespread lack of understanding of what dyslexia is, how it impacts children and the coping strategies that can help.

Many dyslexic children needlessly fail in education due to this. Around 30% of the prison population is dyslexic. This is not because they're not capable - dyslexia does not affect IQ - but because they're often not even diagnosed, may not have parents able to advocate for them and/or because meaningful support in many schools is virtually non-existent.

This is unacceptable. With the help of organisations such as the Dyslexia Association, more children will get the support they need to enable them to attain their full potential.

I can only raise money for one charity through this site. However, in memory of Ali's brother, Ross, who so sadly died in 2007 after suffering from ME for many years, I will donate a sum equal to 10% of the sum I raise on this site to the ME Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
