What am I doing?
I'm running the Bristol half marathon on 14th May 2023. I've done it once before, in 2018, with a time of 2 hours 34 seconds. This time I really want to do it under 2 hours, maybe even 1 hour 55 minutes!? Please wish me luck... I've got loads of training to do and not much time! 

Why am I doing this?
Well, as part of doing this run I'd love to raise lots of funds for an amazing small charity based in Bristol, and one that I've volunteered with since 2019; The Hive Avon.

What is The Hive?
The Hive works with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism and their families and carers in Bristol, South Glos, BANES and surrounding areas. They provide social activities, training, advocacy, and support groups all of which help build confidence, develop life skills, and become more independent and live happier more fulfilled lives.

As a volunteer I provide support at the social drop in. The social drop in provides a safe space for members to socialise and engage with various activities. I help by encouraging independence and social skills, and facilitating things like crafts, bingo, quizzes and games. It's a joy to volunteer here and to see how much The Hive impacts people's lives in such a positive way! 

But, like most charities they suffered financially during the COVID pandemic, and being a small local charity they really do just need funding to continually run all of their services.

A few examples of what your donation will help with:
- A much needed toilet revamp
- A new dedicated training room
- A continuous supply of art materials and games
- And so much more!
