Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
A very dear friend of mine asked me to join her in this epic walk. I of course accepted the challenge.
We are taking part in this 26 mile challenge as this charity is extremely close to both our hearts. Our respective parents suffered with Dementia for years up to their death nearly 5 years and 2 years ago It was very upsetting to see their character change over those years.
My very good friend Jo's mother suffered for 3 years with Dementia until her sudden death aged 84 years. My father unfortunately was diagnosed with Dementia in his late 50s, he had to give up his business as his mind and body deteriorated very quickly. After a few years he had to go into a nursing home and so sadly declined even further. It was extremely distressing for me and my family. It was so sad for man of his age to have this illness. He sadly passed away 2 years ago. Another very close friend of mine now has to deal with her parent going through the same thing. It's heartbreaking.
We really would appreciate any donation you are able to give. Thank you.
