Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those that know me personally you will know that since 2012 I have been on quite a journey of severe weight loss and fitness.   I am still on that journey, the fitness side now just being a way of life to me.  I am totally #addictedtofitness and support Sport England's #ThisGirlCan campaign (even though living in Scotland).

Even in 2014 I did not think I would ever run, and an event such as a triathlon was well out of my comfort zone.  On February 7th 2015 (the day before I was 51) I ran my first race - 7K trail race in Aberfoyle above the David Marshall Lodge - not a flat race in 66 minutes!.

I still have a few issues to overcome with bad experiences in open water swimming, but with the help of my friends and determination I will overcome them.  Training is under way, although the open water training will have to wait until Loch Tay has warmed up a couple of degrees :)

I will have the support of my extended family on the day with my nephew-in-law also taking part.  It will be great to know that I will be raising money for such a good cause too.

As you can see from the information below, this triathlon does not involve huge distances, but it will still be a big challenge (especially putting on a wet wetsuit for round 2!).

update March 2015.  Managed to run my first 6 mile trail race in 1:12:28 and my first 13.5K hill race in 1:47:38.  Training going well.

The 2015 Jenson Button Trust Triathlon is set to be the biggest event to date with the capacity for  double the amount of competitors as seen in previous years.

To be held in Markeaton Park, Derby on Sunday July 12th, competitors will get the chance to race against the 2009 Formula 1 World Champion and a number of amateur and professional Triathletes.

Keeping the same exciting format as adopted in previous years competitors will get the chance to race twice, with the preliminary heat consisting of a 200m lake swim, 11km cycle and 2.5km run. The fastest in the heats will then go on to the final, which is double the distance, 400m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run, with the runners up going through to the wooden spoon race.
