Here I go again for the second time.

Last year it was an absolute privilege to be part of this event and I look forward to what this year will bring.

I cried, I laughed, I cried some more, and I made memories but most of all I raised awareness and money for a charity so close to my heart. But it wasn’t just me, the Irvine team and all the teams, participants, sponsors and supporters, organisers and all involved raised an incredible amount, let’s hope we can do the same this year.

Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising to make breakthroughs happen. Across the UK and the globe, teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading research to save and improve lives, then unite as a community at an event to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making.

How does the money you raise power progress?

- £65 could buy special restriction enzymes. These act like molecular scissors to cut long strands of DNA, allowing our scientists to find out more about the genes that can cause cancer.

- £220 could fund our team of nine cancer nurses for one hour. Our nurse helpline offers confidential support and guidance to people affected by cancer.

When you fundraise for Relay For Life, you’re helping fund research and make discoveries. You’re helping bring about a world where everybody can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
