Send Me to Serve 2023
Campaign by Jesuit Volunteers (RCN 261819306)
Each year, hundreds of young people make the decision to commit to a year or two of service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Send Me to Serve provides the opportunity for Jesuit Volunteers to share their decision with friends and family!

Story

Many of my choices in life are guided by my faith and by certainty of the unity of human beings. I chose to join JVC because I want to learn people's stories that are different from my own and connect with people through service. Also, I believe that the four values (social justice, community, spirituality and simple living) will create the foundation that can help me pursue a life of contributing to the common good.

Soon I will begin a year of service as a Teaching Assistant in a 1st through 3rd grade classroom. Mustard Seed School, a program of Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, is a free private school for children experiencing houselessness in preschool through 8th grade. They provide temporary emergency schooling, and seek to provide warmth, nurturing, safety and structure within an academic environment. I am most looking forward to reminding these kids of their inherent worth, value, and of the love that they deserve. I have always thought that my purpose is to work with kids, and I am joyful that I have this opportunity to try my best at being a source of light for the students at Mustard Seed.
