Story
I am taking on the 2023 London Landmarks Half Marathon to support King's College Hospital Charity and would love your support! I haven't taken part in a charitable run for over 15 years, so given this year I became officially "old" I decided it was time to get back out there!
Having completed the Great Hospital Hike for Kings in September (18 miles across the sites of South London) I was inspired to raise more money for this amazing charity. It strives to make a real difference to patients and their loved ones at its hospitals by supporting projects that go above and beyond what the NHS provides.
Politics aside, if, like me, you passionately believe in our NHS and agree it is now time to turn our grand gesture of collective clapping on a Thursday night into REAL support, I urge you to support me. Hospitals really ARE are the true heroes and let's face it, we all need them. Plus have a bit of sympathy for my old bones and joints getting around 13.1 miles!
A bit more information about Kings Collge Hospital Charity - with its incredible support the work of the following projects has been made possible: the opening of a helipad to rapidly transfer over 200 critically ill patients every year to life-saving critical care; funding of the Mowat Labs, which carries out research into children’s liver disease and acute liver failure; refurbishing children’s Emergency Department to create a more welcoming calming environment; funding research and facilities to ensure more than 40,000 patients annually receive the very best care and treatment for brain tumours and brain injury and purchasing cutting edge technology to help surgeons operate more precisely and supporting research into treatments for blood cancers, making a difference to over 10,000 patients.
