Story
Hello, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During 2012 both of my grandfathers, Ivor Davies and Alfred Tingley, sadly passed away. In memory of both of these inspirational men who have played a hugely important role in my life, I for some reason thought it would be a good idea to decide to run the 2013 London marathon. I didn't actually think I'd get accepted at the time!
Muscular Dystrophy is a disorder which causes muscle weakness and a loss of muscle tissue. Sufferers of Muscular Dystrophy get progresively worse over time as more muscle tissue is lost. My grandad, Alf Tingley suffered from Muscular Dystrophy for over twenty years, the disorder greatly impacted his quality of life, as it meant he was confined to a wheelchair.
Upon finding out he suffered from Muscular Dystrophy Alf began fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, raising a large amount of money for them over the years. I have decided to follow in the footsteps of my grandad in fundraising for this vitally important charity which not only funds research into potential cures for Muscular Dystrophy but also aids sufferers of all ages by giving them necessary advice and equipment, improving their quality of life.
I would greatly appreciate any donations that anyone can spare, it doesn't matter how little they are, just the act of donation in itself is a brilliant thing for anyone to do and I would be very grateful, as would the wonderful charity that I am fundraising for. And surely it's worth a few pounds to see the state that i'll be in come race day for your amusement!?
Thanks a lot for taking the time out of your day to read this,
Lloyd Tingley.
