Townships Trust was set up in 2015 to foster the development of schools and créches in the poorest township areas of Cape Town, South Africa. Its main aim is to provide deprived children, aged 2-7, with a safe place to begin their education. HMRC Charities reference number EW40545.

Story

I will be honest, I'm not fundraising in this marathon per se.  But I do know 1-2 people will ask if they can sponsor, and if that is the case then I am directing to this charity.  The townships we saw on a recent trip to South Africa, sprawled out in the shadow of their glorious towns and cities a stark reminder of the inequality that exists in this world.  And but for an accident of birth any of us could be consigned to a life of few opportunities and deprivation.

Langa is one of the many areas of South Africa that were designated for black Africans before the Apartheid era. It is the oldest township in Cape Town. The Charity’s initial focus is help Langa Moravian Educare (LME), a nursery school situated in the township of Langa. For many of Langa’s children aged 2 to 6 , early education is not readily available. Townships Trust is raising money to provide books, teaching aids and cots for these young children to provide them with the care and education they deserve. Your donation can make a difference.
