Story

thank you  for visiting my fundraising page. I may have reached my new revised target but please keep donating as it all gose to a very good cause. I have also created a page for my fundraising cycle ride from Hayling to Southampton and return on www.justgiving.com/islandriders. Please visit my page!!!

The reason l have created this page is in memory of my dad Geoff Cavill aged 42 who died in January 2008 at the Havant War Memorial Hospital of a cancerous Brain Tumor. He suffered for 19 months and now rests in peace.

The staff of Wessex Neurological Center in Southampton treated my dad with great love and respect which he deserved. The staff were fantastic and did everything they could to help my dad through his illness. Other departments involved with the Wessex Neurological Center such as Oncology and MacMillan were all very friendly and also could not do enough to be supportive of both my dad and my family.

Please can you help support me in raising money by making a donation to help other patients, their families and relatives in similar circumstances that me and my family have been through and help provide toward equipment and anything else that the centre may need to continue the excellent service that they  already give and also to improve other people's chances of survival.

My dad leaves behind a loving wife, Rachel and two devoted sons, Samuel (17) and me, Lloyd (15). He is greatly missed by everyone who knew him and lives on in our hearts forever.           god bless

About the charity

The Wessex Neurological Centre serves a population of 3 million throughout central southern England & the Channel Islands. Having successfully raised £80,000 to provide a dedicated 'critical care' ambulance, and £145,000 to fund the creation of a Paediatric Video-Telemetry Suite (used to assess children with severe Epilepsy as to their suitability for life-changing corrective surgery), our latest appeal aims to raise a further £200,000 for our most ambitious project to date - the Fluorescence Enhanced Neurosurgery Appeal. Surgeons at the Centre perform vascular neurosurgery (to repair aneurysms, haemorrhages and the like), on hundreds of patients each year. By equipping one of the Centre's operating theatres with a new, state-of-the-art operating microscope fitted with the FL800 Fluorescence system, most of these patients will benefit. Fluorescence Enhanced Neurosurgery enables surgeons to clearly visualise blood-flow in adjacent brain tissue, reducing the possibility of either a recurrence of the bleed, or of a post-operative stroke.
