We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March 2018, my mum (Trish Lloyd) was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma blood cancer, it was a difficult time for all of us and we're grateful to family and friends for helping us through it.

Trish fought and battled as hard as she could, however it seemed to be resistant to the chemotherapy that she was having. After two tries doing chemo', it was still coming back and growing, so matters were taken and she went into a phase 2 trial, (which was her last option), however she was weak and struggling from the trial, so the doctors decided to take her off it, but keep her in hospital as an inpatient. It was then that we were told the heartbreaking news, if she didn't get stronger to get back on the trial there was nothing else they could do, -she was so weak!

Mum fought as best she could but was getting weaker by the second  and the cancer was growing. I remember sitting next to her bed along with my brother George for hours reading book to her as we always used to, in bed before going to sleep. I read 'Cookie' by Jaquline Wilson, and George read Diary of a Wimpey kid.

Then, the doctors told us the worst possible news, she was going to be moved to a hospice the next day. We visited her in the hospice and took our dog Lilly, she was so weak she could barely open her eyes.

about 2 O'clock she started to really stuggle with her breathing and the doctor told us it was her heart slowing down, this was unbearably hard for all of us! When she took her last breath we said goodbye, staying in the building, everyone together until it was time to go.

Please donate anything possible so that other families will never have to go through such a horrible thing as we have, and that better access to more advanced cancer treatments are brought forward  to patients like our mummy - such as CAR T therapy, which unfortunately she was unable to get access to, but Bloodwise are a charity trying to improve on this potentially exciting new treatment.

The amazing people doing this with me are: My brilliant dad and brother (Tim and George Lloyd), my Auntie and cousins (Jeffa, Lauren and Cara), my friends (Zoe, Evie, Alicia, Molly, Maia and Fin) and finally 2 of my friends parents (Clare and Emma), who have been so kind and supporting over the last few months, thank you to all of you.

Together we can beat blood cancer x
