Manchester Half Marathon 2019 · 13 October 2019 ·
Over the last year I have lost 7.5 stones in weight, and have taken up running - I did no exercise until July 2018, but have built up to be able to run 10+ miles!
I wanted to give myself a challenge to help keep me motivated, so decided to sign up to run the Manchester Half Marathon in October 2019. I also wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for a fantastic cause, and the Alzheimer’s Society fits that bill exactly. In their own words:
“Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.”
I have a number of family and friends who are struggling with Altzheimer’s and dementia at the moment, or have lost loved ones to the disease, and as a professional person who relies heavily on his brain and memory, dementia and Altzheimer’s is my biggest fear in life. Anything I can do to help in the battle against this condition, therefore, I am happy to do.
Thanks for reading my story, and please donate to help me smash my target for this great, worthwhile cause that does such great work.
