London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

Our aim is to relieve financial hardship among people living within the Selby District. Providing such persons with goods and services which they could not otherwise afford. We, with your help, raise much needed funds to go back within our community, helping and assisting the causes of the needy.

Story

Back in 2018, I signed up to run the London Marathon in 2019 but got injured so I deferred to 2020, but Covid postponed that again. On Sunday 3rd October 2021, I'll finally get to take part in London Marathon for the 3rd; and final time, in memory of my mum.

I've ran it twice before in 2014 (when mum said I wasn't allowed to do it again, as my tracker stopped after 22 miles and she feared the worse!) then in 2016 (when she said it was one of her proudest moments), since mum passed away, I've wanted to complete this run
again to raise awareness and funds for the fantastic charity she started, back in 2009.

Running helps with a lot of things, fitness, self-esteem, inspiring
others, but most importantly it helps the mind. Even before mum passed away, I'd always completed runs, in memory of someone very close to my heart, and while you're running it really helps to clarify a lot of things. My running shirt is a mixture of some of the running shirts I've worn in the past.

I'm looking forward to the run, when I'll take the time; while running, to look back fondly at the great times mum and I had, and the massive impact she had on our family and so many other people’s lives.

Massive thank you to the following, who back in 2018 and last year as part of the 2.6 Challenge, agreed to sponsor each of the miles I'll be completing.
