Martial Arts Bootcamp Session · 12 October 2013

A £35 donation would pay for a week's Speech and Language Therapy for 1 child with Down's Syndrome. One of the greatest barriers for children with Down's syndrome in assessing their local community is difficulty with Speech and Language.

Story

Our Company is Leadership Martial Arts we run schools and after schools clubs in and around Swindon.  I teach Louis White and we have another student, who also has Down's Syndrome, who now has a black belt whom trains at our Highworth School.  So that's one of the reasons we wanted to donate and we put the vote to the students who they thought were important charities to them and the majority chose The Swindon Down's Syndrome Group.

Our event involves an 8 hour continuous fitness event, where we will be meeting at 9am at Lydiard Park for a bootcamp session, then they have to jog to the Link Centre for an RPM class and we finally end up at our HQ in Stratton at 4pm.  The students do not know what is involved they just have to turn up trainers and off they go so we can't publish too much.

The money raised from this event will be going towards The Swindon Down's Syndrome Groups General funds, which help them pay for, weekly Speech and Language Therpay Sessions, an annual training day, new parent resource packs, monthly toddler coffee afternoons, pre-school resource packs, fortnightly and holiday swim sessions, summer outings, Christmas Party and Pantomine, weekly Football Training, Bi-monthly newsletters, Drama Classes, PGL activities, an annual Salamander Fire Course and much more.
