The Lockdown Ultramarathon · 18 April 2020

The COVID-19 response fund will fund additional items for Critical Care teams and other wards in North Wales affected by the pandemic.

Story

To raise money for a local NHS hospital so they can provide their staff with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the fight against COVID-19, it's time to do something a little bit different...

On Saturday April 18th I will be attempting the 'sunrise to sunset' Ultramarathon in my (very small) garden.

I will start running at sunrise (06:54) and stop at sunset (19:46). This means I will be running for almost 13 hours...the equivalent of one on-call shift for an NHS healthcare worker.

I hope to complete around 6,000 - 7,000 laps of my garden and run about 45 - 50 miles.

It will be tough, and my lawn will have seen better days, but this is nothing compared to what NHS workers are having to face on a daily basis. So the least we can do is support them by digging deep and helping to ensure they have the right protective equipment to do their job and save lives.
