We know that some of our supporters want to do their own thing, and were lucky that people organise all sorts of incredible events to support The Trussell Trust.

Story

In light of today’s announcement that all pubs and restaurants will close and that the public should remain inside, two bubbly every-men are both hell-bent on keeping Britain, Britain and raising money for those who need it most. So, throughout the course of the Covid-19 epidemic lockdown, they are teaming up to do a podcast that brings the heart and soul of the British pub into the homes of the nation.

We've got an eclectic line-up of guests to keep the people entertained (actors, sports personalities, celebrities, kids, parents and everyone in-between) and we'll be actively looking to the audience to understand what helps a nation on lockdown and creatively steering our content accordingly.

Working with a potential 12-week window, our objective is to prick as many ears as possible and raise cash from listeners to help support food bank charity, The Trussell Trust.

Throughout the coming weeks a documentary crew will be filming the rise (or fall) of the podcast, as the energetic team strive to grow from a kitchen-based podcast to one of the most listened and talked about, during the lockdown.

We’re going to be accepting donations, attracting sponsors and playing games to raise as much money for The Trussell Trust as we can do over the course of the Covid-19 Epidemic.

The charity support a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. We support more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. Between April 2018 and March 2019, food banks in our network provided a record 1.6 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 19% increase on the previous year.

As the coronavirus pandemic unfolds in the UK, the charity’s main priority is ensuring the safety of everyone who comes to a food bank – whether it’s someone needing help, someone volunteering their time, or someone making a donation.

We know it takes more than food to end hunger. That’s why we bring together the experiences of food banks in our network to challenge the structural economic issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign to end the need for food banks in the UK.
