Story
Autistica carries out vital research into the causes, treatments and effects of autism, and are the largest autism medical research charity in the UK.
25% of autistic people have little-to-no ability to speak, and Autistica have developed an early therapy to improve communication. More than 70% of autistic people have a mental health condition, and Autistica are working towards treatments. The work they do can be life-changing.
They have three main goals in mind: reducing the age of diagnosis, providing autistic people with effective treatments, and understanding how autism changes with age. In addition, they research into commonly co-occurring conditions such as ADHD.
Myself and my two brothers have all been diagnosed with ADHD, and one of my brother with autism. Therefore, this cause is of huge personal significance to me.
The Stanley, my boarding house at school, also have a long-running history of supporting Autistica, and it means a lot to be able to continue this relationship.
