Story

There are currently 850 million people worldwide living with kidney disease and Im one of them,

My name is Logan Parsi age 6,

Here's the short version of my story...

I was born with hydronephosis and a blockage in my left ureter tube which was missed during pregnancy scans. We didn't find out about my problems until i was 18 months old, i had many scans and procedures to find the cause of the blockage things were unclear for 2 years before i was diagnosed with the birth defects. By then the hydronephosis had damaged my left kidney and it started to loose function. My right kidney started to work harder as my left kidney continued to loose function between scans. Doctors decided to operate to remove the blockage in the hope it will prevent more damage to the left kidney, So i underwent open pyeloplasty on 23rd December 2019 at age 5 and spent christmas in Leicester Royal Infirmary where i recovered for 5 days, once i got home  i stayed off school for a while then i felt well enough to go back, i couldn't do much until i had my stent removed. I could go to school but i couldn't play with my friends in the playground at break times or do p.e, I couldn't run or jump and most importantly i couldn't ride my bike until my stent was out, which was postponed from March to June as hospitals were overwhelmed with the coronvirus outbreak. We had a little complication during my stent removal procedure but im now fighting fit and able to carry out daily activities without pain which im thankful for. I'll always live with kidney disease now but I'll never let it stop me.

During the time i couldn't ride my bike i was sad as i loved riding my bike so now i can, i want to make up for the time i missed and raise money for a cause close to me, with abit more research we can prevent health conditions going amiss so they are noticed and dealt with sooner, the more money raised the more operations can be performed for those on the waiting lists in desperate need.

Every Sunday Me and my mum, dad and little sister are going to go out on our bikes and complete 850miles by the end of 2021 to represent the 850million people in the world living with kidney disease.

I would really appreciate if you could help me raise funds for kidney research to help me give back

Thankyou.
