Most of you know I started running seriously about a year and a half ago. Never having stuck consistently with the gym or being a runner in the past, I finally felt ready to give my time and effort more genuinely to this (not exaggerated) life changing sport.

I was at a place in my personal life and career where I would have time to run during the week along the beautiful river 10 minutes from my house in Cambridge. It would have been a shame not to!

What's unfolded since has been a combination of challenging fitness (I've also been doing yoga several times a week alongside running), free therapy and great sense of accomplishment. 

I've completed 7 races, 2 half marathons and have 2 more halves to go before the big kahuna April 28th in London!

It's a privilege to secure a space with a charity running the London Marathon, let alone a space at all. It's one of the most popular and well attended races in the world -  I still can't believe I'm taking part!

I chose my charity, Brooke, for two reasons: I wanted to support a charity focused around animal welfare, and Brooke's focus is interesting in that it's a type of welfare many of us don't think about. 

So many communities across the globe rely on working horses and animals to sustain their livelihood. Many of these communities do not have the resources or education to properly care for these animals - that's where Brooke comes in! 

They work directly with animals, animal owners, health services and local governments to improve the standard of care for these extremely hard working people and animals. It's really inspiring!

I'll be raising money for their charity to employ vets, animal welfare experts, and advocacy and development specialists.

I have a challenging few months ahead both in terms of fundraising and training, and I'll be updating here with my progress and creative ways to raise money!

I can't wait to cross the finish line knowing I've accomplished something inspiring while helping to support the well being of animals across the globe. A true win-win!
