Charity Giving Day 2023 · 13 September 2023 ·

As an independent charity we are able to give in a more effective and focused way; we live by the governance of charitable status and our running costs remain at zero. In doing so, we contribute as much as we can to the causes we carefully select to support. As well as fundraising efforts, The Clarkson Foundation enables us to channel our experience, expertise and time so that a tangible difference can be felt. Regardless of location, what matters most is that we can make a positive impact around the world, leaving a legacy that we can all be proud of. We strive to make a tangible difference by supporting causes with a localised focus, anywhere in the world.

Story

The Clarksons Annual Charity Giving Day is back and this year we are raising money and awareness for Hospice in the Weald and Bowel Cancer UK in memory of our late colleagues Dominic Low and Remco Hemminga.

This year's rowing challenge is simple. Each team will have a rower in which they will compete against all other teams in the battle to be crowned the Clarksons Champion.

In honour of Dominic Low we will be raising money for The Hospice in the Weald. The Hospice were privileged to care for Dom and his family over the past year. They began supporting him in September 2022 through their Living Well service, providing physiotherapy and occupational therapy, as well as further information and guidance about what to expect. Their outreach team of nurses supported Dom and his wife Joanna in their home, and later on at their In-Patient Ward, where he passed away on 21st April 2023. 50% of the funds raised through Charity Giving Day will go towards supporting their Nurses. By far the greatest cost for Hospice are the people, in particular the nurses, paramedics and doctors who support our patients every day. Their committed, skilled nurses provide
care for patients in our 25 in-patient beds 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

In honour of Remco Hemminga we will be support Bowel Cancer UK. Bowel Cancer UK is the country’s leading bowel cancer charity, working towards a future where nobody dies of the disease. A £50,000 donation from the Clarkson donation will fund a month of wrap-around support services for those living with bowel cancer and their loved ones. From asking urgent questions to qualified nurses, to finding community with others affected by bowel cancer online - your support will make a big difference.
