Story
I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer kills 1 in 8 men. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. I think when you grow up you think parents, loved ones and friends are indestructible however life does throw curveballs! It is amazing what such news can do to a family as a whole - in this case we all pulled together and came out the other end stronger and closer. Despite the ups and downs along the way Dad is now through surgery and back to being his old self. However it has taught us lessons that we need to be aware of what can happen to our bodies - but also do what you can whilst you are fit and well. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Therefore I am running this event to almost repay and say thank to those who help Dad kick this in to touch and beat it.
I am aware that some individuals and families are not so lucky and therefore it is important that we must continue to pull together and do our bit to support the research, support and countless amount of hours of hard work going into help improve treatment and research.
