Ted's London Marathon 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
My dad was diagnosed with and treated for prostate cancer nearly 13 years ago. Thankfully, he was given the all clear.
He is also the most amazingly talented artist and sculptor, and has now created a bespoke piece of miniature art to help raise more money for Prostate Cancer UK. Carved from boxwood and mounted on a burr walnut board, it fittingly combines the cancer awareness ribbon and a pair of running shoes.
For every £5 you donate, you'll be entered once into a draw to win this unique piece. Please read the instructions below first!
HOW TO ENTER
1. The cost of each entry is £5. You may purchase more than one entry (e.g. a £20 donation is 4 entries). Payment must be made through this JustGiving page.

+ + + +
1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. In fact, 144 men are diagnosed every day.
10 years ago, my dad was one of them. I still remember receiving the news of his diagnosis as an 18 year-old. This type of news knocks the whole family off balance. What does it mean? Will he be OK? What can we do?
Thanks to early screening, it was caught early. He was treated with a course of permanent seed brachytherapy and is now cancer-free. The fact that this is possible is thanks to the vital research, innovation and campaigning driven by charities like Prostate Cancer UK.
But this happy story is not the case for everyone. A man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes. And that’s not good enough.
I'm running the 2025 London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK so that more men, dads, brothers, sons and friends can receive the same attention and positive outcome that my dad did.
I’m no stranger to running, but this will be a huge challenge for me, having only ever run half this distance at most. But for this very special cause, I’m challenging myself to go all the way before I turn 30.
In preparation, I'll also be running:
- Run Reigate Half Marathon (22nd Sept 2024)
- Dark Skies Surrey Hills 10 miles (18th Jan 2025)
- Sussex Downs Trail Run Half Marathon (15th Feb 2025)
...that's 100km in total!
