Story
Hi, I’m Jack Rider, and in April 2026 I’ll be running the London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. This isn’t just a challenge—it’s a mission that means the world to me.
My dad, Steve Rider, is someone many of you will know from his years presenting sport on television. But to me, he’s simply Dad—the man who taught me resilience, kindness, and the joy of sport. In 2023, our family faced something we never expected: Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thanks to early detection and incredible medical care, he came through surgery and recovery—but the experience changed everything.
Dad didn’t just fight his own battle quietly. He spoke out publicly, urging men to “recognise your vulnerability” and get checked early. His courage has helped countless others take action. I couldn’t be prouder.
Dad has run the London Marathon multiple times over the years, raising money for charities close to his heart. I grew up watching him train, cross finish lines, and turn miles into hope for others. Now, it’s my turn to carry that legacy forward.
This marathon is my way of saying:
Thank you, Dad—for your strength and for inspiring me every day.
I’m with you—and with every man and family facing prostate cancer.
Let’s make a difference together—because this disease affects 1 in 8 men in the UK.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Around 50,000 men are diagnosed every year—that’s 144 every single day. Your donation will fund life-saving research, awareness campaigns, and support for families who need it most.
Dad showed me that one person can make a huge difference. Now I’m running 26.2 miles to honour him and help others. Please join me—together we can turn awareness into action and hope into reality.
Thank you for your support.
Jack 🏃♂️💙
