Story

As a keen runner with a visual impairment, Jonathan relies heavily on others to help him train and compete safely. For the past 18 months, Verena has expertly taken on this guiding role, and together they will be running the London Marathon this year in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

Last year, Jonathan experienced a prostate-related health issue that required hospital treatment. Thankfully, the condition was benign and is now being successfully managed with medication.

In hindsight, it’s clear that earlier action might have prevented the situation from escalating. Like many men, Jonathan noticed changes over time but didn’t seek advice straight away. This experience highlighted how easily men can delay dealing with health concerns, and how important it is to speak to a GP early.

That’s why we’re running the London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, and early diagnosis makes a significant difference to outcomes. Funds raised will support research and services that help men get diagnosed sooner and better supported through treatment.

If this encourages even one person to check symptoms or start a conversation, it will be worth it.

Thank you for your support — we really appreciate it!
