Story

7th June 2018 was possibly the worst day of my life, it was the day I lost my Dad. Whilst there is no good way to die there are bad ways. My Dad's life would have ended on an overcrowded ward in Watford General if it were not for the help of the Hospice of St Francis. With their help we were able to take Dad home, where we could be with him day and night for those final days. The care and support they offered meant that Dad was able to remain calm and comfortable and surrounded by his family.

I want to say thank you to the Hospice so, with my good friend Anne Stockley, I am cycling from London to Paris to raise funds for this amazing charity.  We NEED YOUR HELP!  Please, please, please can you spare a few moments to make a donation?

The Hospice don't just help people to die with dignity, they help the ill recover, they help the dying live the best life they can in the time they have left and they provide support not just for the ill but also for their family and friends. You never know when you might need their support.

About the Challenge

The challenge begins on the 18th September 2019 and the journey will take four days. Starting in Crystal Palace, London each day we will cycle between 65 and 95 miles to reach our final destination the
Eiffel Tower, Paris. Anne and I decided this would be a good idea after several large glasses of Pino which is ludicrous because at that point, the most I had cycled in one day was ten miles. This really is a huge challenge for us but the charity is worth the effort so please, if you can, show some support and donate.

About the charity

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.
