On Saturday August 22nd 2009 Kaska Karwecka, Evan Sexon,
Rael Winters and Andy Hawkins will embark upon an epic adventure. Powered
entirely by bicycles and beer, we will tackle the 300 miles of unforgivingly
hilly terrain between our fine capital,
, and the traditional closing
stage of the Tour de France, ’
Arc de Triomphe. We aim to complete this feat in not less than three days,
meaning an average of slightly over 100 miles of cycling per day, but to do so
we need your support. SOS Children’s Villages are a great charity that Claranet
have elected to support in 2009. Our will power will surely flag if we are
unable to raise at least £1,000 for this cause. Please help us.
We have already paid for our bicycles, ferry, hotels and the
Eurostar back, all out of our own pockets, so every penny you donate (plus a
few more from our generous government) will go directly to SOS Children’s
Villages.
The funds we raise from this will be combined with
Claranet's other charity efforts throughout the year and will go towards a
specific project in the construction of a desperately needed new SOS Children's
Village in Chipata, Zambia, where 10% of the children have been orphaned
through HIV/AIDS.
