Story
Unfortunately, at the beginning of the first lockdown, I had to have an emergency operation, which resulted in me having to manage an open wound for over seven months. I went on to have another two operations and over 40 scans and procedures during multiple admissions.
The level of care I received in what has been the most challenging time for the NHS has been extraordinary. The fact the team at the PRU managed to be so understanding and compassionate whilst being hugely understaffed and working in an environment where they were risking their own lives really highlights what amazing people they all are.
I have been unable to do any real exercise until now, so training and hopefully completing this half marathon will hopefully mark an end to the most challenging period of my life and raise money to support the fantastic team at the Princess University Hospital.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
All the best
Matt
