London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
My beautiful mother, Clare Askaroff, sadly lost her 2 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer on 24th April 2021, at the young age of 63. She was the most caring, considerate, creative and talented woman most of us had ever met, and I was lucky enough to call her my mother. Although so young, she lived a full life. A mother of 4, grandmother to 8 (plus one on the way) and a friend to so many more.
When I saw the 2022 London Marathon was originally set to fall on the anniversary of her death, it was fate that I should apply - a lifelong objective, and what better reason? The date has now been moved to October 2nd, but gratefully I, along with my best mate, Mickey Foote, have been accepted, so we will be raising as much money and awareness for this truly terrible disease.
It’s simply unacceptable in this day and age that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is supporting people with pancreatic cancer as well as campaigning and funding vital research to transform the future for so many. Please help them to make the breakthroughs that people with this awful disease so desperately need to prevent as many people and families going through such tragic premature loss.
Thank you for reading and supporting us along this journey. We are extremely grateful for any donations received and look forward to keeping you posted on our progress!
Much love,
Lynden & Mickey
