London to Paris in 24 hours · 30 April 2010
London to Paris in 24 hours on a bike.
We're not sure if this is possible, but we know that it's for a good cause.
We plan to leave Big Ben at 00.01 hours on Friday 30th April. Five cyclists, supported by our "Director sportif", Keith Johnston will cycle to Ashford, picking up the Eurotunnel at 05.48. We get a brief rest on the train, but lose an hour with the time change. Arriving in Calais at about 07.15, we have the rest of the day to gently cycle the remaining 200 miles or so. We hope to arrive at the Eiffel Tour sometime on Friday evening. Most charity cycle rides from London to Paris take 3 or 4 days so doing this in a day is going to be difficult.
All money raised by this cycle will go to Occtopus. This is a charity based in Oxford which aims to improve the quality of care for people with bowel cancer or other major bowel conditions.
