Haileybury Society Sleep Out 2021 · 3 December 2021 ·

We support and serve former pupils and staff of Haileybury College, Hertford. In the last 20 years alone we have donated £1m in bursaries, grants and awards for the direct educational benefit of pupils at Haileybury. We provide a valuable community network for our members throughout their lives.

Story

On Friday December 3, I will be spending a cold (and probably wet) winter’s night with quite a few others sleeping on the streets of
London. Why? You might ask...

This challenge is to raise funds for two charitable causes supported by the Haileybury Society (the alumni body for my old school and one of the charities where I've held a trustee role for many years):

"RESTART LIVES" is charity that supports London's homeless through counselling, mentoring and employability training with the ultimate aim of supporting them into employment and permanent accommodation.

"ARM IN ARM" Campaign, organised by the Haileybury Society, is to raise £50,000 for a bionic arm for Rob Butt - an Old Haileyburian and former member of the Royal Regiment of Artillery in the British Army. In 2018, he experienced a life-changing accident resulting in becoming paralysed from the neck down. A bionic arm will make a real difference to his life, particularly the interaction he has with his family and especially his children.

The Haileybury Society will split the money raised 50/50 between the two charities and you will be responsible for playing a part in changing peoples lives for the better.

Your generosity will be hugely appreciated and help make a challenging night on the streets so much more bearable.

Thank you.

James
