London to Paris Bike Ride in 24hrs · 7 October 2014
The team:-
Mal Stratton,David Chattaway,Phil Trotter, Rob Coates, Gavin Quiney, Keith Hills & Gary White
The Aim:-
Cycle from London to Paris in 24hrs
We will be setting off from Big Ben on Tuesday 7th October 2014 at 4pm and cycling down to Newhaven, where we will catch the late night ferry across to Dieppe.
Once we have disembarked from the ferry - it is back on the bikes and cycling all the way to Paris with the goal of reaching the Eiffel tower in Paris in under 24hrs!!
Why are we doing this?
We are raising money on behalf of the Charlie Crowe Scanner appeal - which was set up by the former Newcastle united footballer "Charlie Crowe". The appeal is raising much needed funds to buy a new scanner which will be used in the clinical research of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, muscle diseases and other dementias.
We all have loved ones who have been or are affected by the diseases mentioned above and the Scanner is vital to the continued research into the diseases.
Here is some background to the appeal:-
£1.5 million is needed for a new high powered scanner which will be used at the Magnetic Resonance Centre. Urgent medical research is being held back by the lack of scanner time - the new scanner will allow the centre to press ahead with world leading advances is Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases.
The research can make a huge difference to the lives of many people
The Scanner will be used at the Magnetic Resonance Centre which is part of the Ageing and Health Campus at Newcastle General Hospital.
Whether your a friend, family member, colleague or just an everyday generous person, please give what you can to help us reach the total and help the Charlie Crowe appeal reach its goal.
