Friends aim to provide services & amenities to support the social experience of all ages that have to stay in hospital either before or following treatment. Funds are raised over and above the NHS provision to provide patient comforts, which help to improve time spent in hospital. A Big Thank you!

Story

Ali Farrell, Amanda Gibson, Emily Davies, Hannah Wallace, Jenny Goodwin, Kath Farrell, Katie Catherall, Lucy Bannister, Nina Durham, Rosie Buttarazzi, Sarah Eales and I are going on a very, very, very long walk! On Saturday 4th October we aim to complete a marathon length (26 miles and a bit) walk along the River Thames starting from Hampton Court Palace and ending at Tower Bridge. As this is a self-organised walk and depending on how annoying the London tourists are, it will take somewhere between 7-9 hours -of none stop walking!!!

Obviously there is a reason for doing this… Friends of the Royal London Hospital. Oli Farrell, who was very close to many of us, sadly passed away in November 2013 after battling for a number of days in the Royal London Hospital. During Oli's time in the hospital the level of support and help provided to him, his family and his visiting friends was incredible and ensured Oli had the most comfortable stay possible. So we, with your help, would like to give something back and help this fantastic charity.

Friends of the Royal London Hospital is a very small charity. They rely solely on donations and volunteers in their aim to try and put a smile on the faces of both patients & their visiting family and to help fund much needed extra medical equipment. Some of the projects and services your kindly donated pennies would go towards include...

- a magician to visit the children's ward

- a daily trolley service providing a refreshment and a friendly chat particularly for elderly patients who may not have many visitors

- to buy DVD players to ensure children who have an MRI don't get scared during the scan

- additional visitor chairs for the Critical Care Unit

These little things really go along way in ensuring the comfort of patients and visitors during extremely stressful times.

We totally appreciate that you have probably received loads of just giving links already so please don't feel any pressure to sponsor us… or feel the pressure and sponsor us!

Massive thank you from,
