David’s story:

12 months ago I was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder and told that I would have to undergo life changing surgery that would result in me needing a urostomy bag for the rest of my life. The 21k London Winter Walk that takes place on the 28th of January 2023 will be exactly 12 months from the day of the surgery that saved my life. Me and my closest family and friends are taking part in this charity walk to raise money and awareness for Action Bladder Cancer UK to help more people inflicted by this terrible illness. Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer. Over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, but Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Action Bladder Cancer UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
