LB4LH last event - 

Exposition Expedition Saturday 4th June 2016 Raising £656.00 for the Children's Heart Federation.

Hosted by Johnny Phillips and Michael Laidler.This grueling 46mile skate was kindly sponsored by SP8 Boards and supported by Leeds international Tattoo Exposition. A MASSIVE thank you to Johnny and Michael and everyone who made this yet another fantastic event for LB4LH & The CHF.

Longboarding for little hearts was created by  Dean Lake, inspired by his daughter Olivia, who was born with a serious heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. She needed open heart surgery at the age of 7 months old to save her life. Even though operation was a success, she was left critically ill in intensive care and will require regular hospital checks and further surgery in the next few years to correct the pulmonary artery.                                                    

Whilst Olivia laid in intensive care at the Royal Brompton hospital, Dean looked around at all of the other babies and young children, some fighting for their lives, and some in a lot more danger than Olivia. "I knew then that I had to do something to try and help."

On the 9th of July 2011 Dean decided to mark Olivia's 1st year anniversary of good health by organising a sponsored distance skate for the Children's Heart Federation. He organised a 20km skate across central London and was supported on the day by 16 other longboarders I had never met before, thus creating the Longboarding for Little Hearts team. They raised £2,100, not including their own donations direct to the CHF.

Since then Longboarding for Little Hearts has gone from strength to strength, with supports from across the UK and abroad creating exciting events to raise much needed money and awareness for the Children's Heart Federation.
