Through its two sponsoring Orders, the Order of Malta and the Venerable Order of St John, OSJCT has a history of care stretching back nearly 1,000 years. The Wish Tree Fund was set up to enable OSJCT residents to fulfil meaningful, lifelong ambitions.

Story

Over the last 6 months, my Nana's health has deteriorated rapidly due to dementia.  It has been an upsetting thing to watch first-hand the daily recurring challenges she has to deal with.  She is however lucky to have a family able to look after her and recently provide the round the clock care she requires.

The Orders of St John Care Trust provide care and support for elderly people with dementia which is why I've chosen this charity, so please dig deep!

As for the event itself, !!!HERE'S THE SMALL PRINT!!!, you are sponsoring me to attempt this event, not to complete it!  I promise I will give everything I have in trying to get to that finish line though.

This is my first attempt at a full IronMan.  The components are:

- 3.8K (152 lengths) swim in the sea.  Weather looks windy and rainy - great!

- 112 mile cycle. (London to Brighton and back, except the Welsh terrain is VERY hilly)

- A marathon.  Not what I want to be starting after 9-10 hours of continuous exercise. Scary.

- A celebratory beer / sleep.

So only a few days of opportunity to sponsor.  Sorry in advance if I don’t make it but I will do my best!  To finish with an excerpt from the rules about the marathon leg, ‘no form of locomotion other than running, walking or crawling is allowed’.  Let’s hope I don’t have to resort to the latter!

Thanks for your support, Sweeney
