Story
Thanks for visiting our Just Giving Page.
We are Tim James, Iona Campbell and Faye Marlbrough, and we are total loons!
Tim is a primary school teacher who enjoys fine whisky, writing on whiteboards and signing his friends up for crazy adventures.
Iona is the recovery support worker for A Way out and enjoys cups of tea, puppies and anything fluffy.
Faye works for YMCA Tees Valley and regularly participates in life threatning events such as bungee jumping and the Stockton Rat Race in order to raise much needed funds for local charities.
We have decided to take part in the Mongol Rally 2013 which involves driving from London in England to Ulaanbaatar which is in Mongolia!! This involves covering 1/3 of the world's surface in a car with an enginge no bigger than 1.2l! As if that isn't crazy enough, none of us have a clue about mechanics and so we are brushing up on our skills as I type!
A Way Out is a charity based in Stockton which works with vulnerable women and young people to bring them hope, freedom and wholeness. A Way Out offer support through intensive one to one work which often includes advocacy work and emotional support. They also run a range of groups from life skills, to group therapy, gym sessions, accredited courses and drop ins in which individuals can come to the centre for a hot meal, theraputic activities and recieve a food parcel to see them through several days.
Many of the people we work with are trapped in life controlling situations, whether it be drug or alcohol addiction, being involved in sexual exploitation or suffering from abuse. A Way Out believe that everyone has the right to live a whole, happy and healthy life and they aim to equipp individuals with the tools to be able to break free from these life controlling situations and achieve their full potential.
