Story
A mid-life crisis, lunacy, the result of a drunken night out, brave, daft, ambitious have been the reactions of some....
Call it what you will, but this idea was born out of a desire to do something that would be: 1) A huge challenge (well it's a 1000 miles unsupported on a bike; so tick!). 2) Totally different (it's not your average way to spend a week; so tick!). 3) An experience to remember (it'll allow us to see parts of the country that we know exist but have never found the time to visit; so tick!)
Anyway, on the 19th July we'll set off from John O'Groats and cycle unsupported c.112 miles a day for 9 days until we reach Land End. From Top to Bottom in 1,000 miles!
Whilst this isn't a charity event, we are going to be riding to raise funds for Starlight Foundation (www.starlight.org.uk). These guys grant wishes for seriously ill children and provide programmes for sick children in hospitals across the UK.
Why Starlight? We're all dad's and fortunate enough, today, to have healthy children. We're also acutely aware there 1000's of parents with children who are less fortunate and have illnesses of varying severity, in some cases terminal. Smiles and dreams is what kids live for and the difference Starlight makes to these children and their families in challenging times is nothing short of remarkable.
I encourage you to please take a couple of mins to visit the site (www.starlight.uk.org) to find out more and you'll see exactly why we want to be involved. It's an incredible charity - some of the wishes they grant are truly magical.
We know you'll doubtless be asked by numerous people to donate to a variety of equally needy causes, but if you could see your way to support us in this ride...whilst you WON'T be helping our ACHES and SORES, you WILL be making them really, really WORTHWHILE, and helping to make wishes come true and bring smiles to the faces to those of the sick children supported by Starlight.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for any support you're able to give.
