Hello!

My name is Stuart Jameson and I've just decided to try something potentially really stupid.  I'm going to hitchhike to India from Berlin.  Why on earth would I attempt this crazy endeavor?

In March 2010 my dad passed away after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.  He was 76.

A year later, my mum died suddenly of a brain hemorrage. This was just after beating Hodgkin's Lymphoma and losing all her hair from the treatment process.  She was 68.

A short while later we had no choice but to put our family dog down.  I thought it was time to travel the world.

After journeying all around the US, Central and South America, I returned to Europe and found myself in Berlin with plenty of time but no real direction.  Then I had an idea.  I'm going to attempt to hitchhike to India, using only that mode of transport and without paying for anything.  I made it to Prague where I met a fellow traveller who was crossing the continent for Macmillan Cancer Support.  I was nearly in tears.

Macmillan provided invaluable support and care to our wonderful parents in their twilight years.  They were angels.  I have no idea what we would have done without them through those trying times.  The service they provide is so vital and they need all the help they can get.  Why was I skipping about from place to place selfishly while giving nothing back?  This is my chance to put that right, and in some small way, from my twin sister and I; to say thank you.
