Story
The Liverpool Ocular Oncology Research Group’s (LOORG’s) mission is to conduct high quality basic, translational and clinical research into the pathogenesis and treatment of adult ocular tumours that will improve patient care and survival.
A major strength of the LOORG is the close collaboration between ocular oncology clinicians, pathologists and basic scientists that ensures that the research we conduct addresses the key questions that will bring about improved survival and quality of life for ocular oncology patients.
OcuMel UK is a charity representing sufferers of ocular melanoma. They aim to support patients and their families by providing accurate, up-to-date information and emotional support via our website and helpline.
As a group specialising in such a rare cancer, we would like to help raise awareness about eye cancer, and in the process raise vital funds for OcuMel UK.
Therefore on Monday 20th May, 2013, LOORG will be taking part in OcuMel's Eye Patch Awareness Day. We will endeavour to wear an eye patch all day (except when driving/riding etc) to help raise the profile & awareness of ocular melanoma.
