Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On October 6th this year, I’m going to be running the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of some amazing people doing amazing things - The Forget-Me-Not Chorus. The brainchild of Kate Woolveridge, she and her team run weekly sessions for people living with dementia and the people who care for and about them. It is SO MUCH MORE than a weekly singalong. It’s a social network, it’s an opportunity for dementia sufferers to discover just how much they can still do and, through projects involving poets, composers and top-flight rugby players amongst others, it is creative and precisely tailored to those taking part, who they were and who they still are. I love that the Chorus perform regular concerts, showing off their skills and demonstrating that those living with dementia still have a great deal to offer the communities in which they live. Both my parents suffered from forms of dementia and I know that they would have loved it so I’m trying to make sure that as many people as possible can have access to the joy that these sessions bring in the future. I’m training hard - I’m not going to be the speediest but everyone who finishes runs the distance AND IT’S A LONG WAY so please support me if you can - no amount is too small. Thank you so much xx
