Story
My Grandad Jack had Alzheimer's and not only was it particularly tough on him, but also my nan who was initially caring for him. He became a shell of the man he was before and his last couple of years must have been unbearable.
The past 12 months have been tough on all of us. Being particularly hard for those not able to see loved ones in care homes/hospitals, as well as it being totally confusing to those living in society with Alzheimer's and for their families and carers. Support to these people is needed more than ever now. I am also very supportive in the research into Alzheimer's and truly believe we will be able to reduce risk factors for the disease as well as manage it better.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
