Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·

Thomas Pocklington Trust provides support services for people with sight loss in the UK. Research is a central part of our work. Each year we fund social and public health research initiatives to identify practical ways in which we, and others, can improve the lives of people with sight loss.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have a bucket list of 50 things to do before I am 50.   On that list is to run the great north run.     I mentioned to a friend last October that I was planning to run it in 2020 - that evening her husband came back from work and said he needed to find 5 people willing to run the GNR for the chartity he works for (Thomas Pocklington Trust).    Suddenly I was signed up and running it a year earlier than I had thought!!

I started training in January with the couch to 5k app - at that point I struggled to run for a minute......in march I ran my 5k first park run and at the end of may ran my first 10k.   I am not fast but I do finish (and jog the whole way) - I am actually even enjoying it!

So - I won't promise a fast time for the GNR but I do promise I will complete it!  Any donations for the Thomas Pocklington Trust are very gratefully received - Dad was a life long supporter of RNIB because he had a fear of going blind so I feel he would approve of my charity choice:)
