Adidas Manchester Marathon 2023 · 16 April 2023 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Myself and a group of close friends/family have recently decided to test ourselves in the form of running a marathon. We thought this would be a good opportunity for us to raise money for a worthy cause in the form of the Alzheimer's society. I have seen first-hand what an awful disease Dementia is, losing both of my both my grandfathers to it, whilst my granny continues to deteriorate with it. I know I am far from alone in this, with many of us having close friends and family having suffered similarly. Having worked on the wards in the NHS as a junior doctor over the previous few years I have also seen first-hand what a terrible and increasing burden it is on our health and social care systems. Any donations for this very worthy cause to support us in running the Manchester Marathon this April would be greatly appreciated!
