Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon in memory of one of the nicest men I have ever met, my Brother-in-Law, Clive Smith. Clive was kind hearted and a great person to be around with a wicked sense of humour (although he did support Manchester United, but we won't hold that against him!) Clive was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2011 and subsequently was being treated for this illness. Approx. 12 months later it was discovered that the sudden onset of diabetes was caused by the fact that Clive actually had Pancreatic Cancer. His diagnosis was so late in the day that he was given 3 months to live and Chemo would only extend his life by a few months. Needless to say the family were completed devastated and there was little anyone could do, only make his last few months as memorable and as painless as possible. Clive bravely carried on, never losing his sense of humour or missing out on a chance to watch his favourite team to play. Unfortunately he lost his battle in June 2012. This story is all too familiar in regards to late diagnosis with Pancreatic Cancer, with more support maybe we can stop this happening in the future and find a cure.
