Ten for Ten
Campaign by Calan DVS (RCN 1146056)
Calan DVS is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and one of our key objectives is to increase support for children and young people impacted by domestic abuse. Join us in raising £10,000 in 10 months to enable us to provide ongoing support.

Story

From October 17th to November 30th I will be walking/running a total distance of 140 miles - the length of Wales!

Averaging 5km a day whilst juggling work and mum duties will be tough, but so worth it to raise some money and awareness for such a worthy charity! Although I will be doing this on my own most of the time, Archie (5), and Isaac (4) are excited to join me on weekends to help raise some money for “children who come from homes that aren’t always kind”.

Calan DVS are a Welsh charity who help families affected by domestic violence. When I saw their current incentive to raise money for their children services I knew I had to do something to help.

I understand times are tough financially for many, but support is needed more than ever for the children in families affected by domestic abuse.

I will be adding updates on my blog, here’s the link…

Below is some information on Calan DVS and their Ten for Ten objective, this is a smaller charity, and any donation will make a big difference. Thank you.

Ten for Ten

Calan DVS is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and one of our key objectives is to increase support for children and young people impacted by domestic abuse.

Story

Domestic abuse is a devastating reality for too many children and young people. Unfortunately, it is often cloaked in secrecy and shame, making it difficult for those affected to seek help. This exposure can lead to a range of emotional and behavioural problems, including anxiety, depression, and aggression. It can also make it difficult for children to form healthy relationships when they reach adulthood.

That's why we're raising £10,000 to help fund counselling and support groups for these vulnerable young people. With your help, we can provide the emotional and practical support that these young people need to heal from their experiences and build brighter futures for themselves.

Your donations will be used to pay for:   Drawing and Talking therapy; counselling sessions; a toy and activity pack for each child arriving in refuge; age-appropriate toys/play equipment and days out for families in refuge.

This is Williams* story.

William was four years old when he and his mother came to one of our refuges. They had been living in a home where domestic violence was a regular occurrence. When he arrived at our refuge, he was scared and withdrawn. We were determined to do everything we could to help him heal. Through your donations we were able to give William a cuddly bear and a toy car. They were his to keep. With the support of counselling sessions William slowly began to open up. We were able to fund from your donations, family days out for him and other children in refuge and drawing therapy. Today, William and his mum have been re-homed and we are continuing our support to help William and his mum rebuild their lives.
