As someone who has been both a Volunteer for and a Supporter of Woking Hospice for several years, I have felt both helpless and disappointed that I could not do more to raise money for this vital good cause this year. Then I saw their advert for a Virtual Santa Run and it sparked an idea. I can't RUN anywhere but, thanks in part to the lockdowns this year, I can WALK. So at the age of 62 I am donning a Santa suit for the first time (quite excited about that!) and challenging myself to walk thus attired from the Knaphill Hospice Shop to the West Byfleet Hospice Shop calling at the hospice warehouse, the hospice itself and the Goldworth Park, Horsell, Woking and Kingfield Hospice Shops along the way. It's about 9-10 miles and I'm not sure exactly how long it will take (especially as I shall probably partake of a reviving takeaway mug of ruby hot chocolate at the lovely Cup of Peace cafe in Kingfield along the way!). My most excellent and ever supportive husband, Malcolm, is going to be my taxi at the start and finish and take photos of me at my ports of call along the way to record the event. The date of the walk is weather dependent - probably the first day in December that looks clear of rain! Watch this space for more details and pictures.

I can't thank you enough for any support you can give me and the hospice. Any amount at all will make all the difference to the people whom the hospice supports throughout this area.
