Story

Hello, my name is Louisa Frobisher and I am 12 years old.

In October 2018, I am going to run 2 miles / 3.2km, 1 lap of Worcester horse racecourse. I am doing this to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice.

I was born in 2006 and had two sisters. I was one of triplets. We were born 16 weeks early. Sadly my older sister, Jewel, passed away after only 17 days. My twin sister Milla and I came home after 6 months in hospital. We both had operations on our eyes and I had a hole in the heart repaired. I am blind in my left eye and only partially sighted in my right eye.

My sister Milla was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy when she was around 1 year old. Because of her premature birth, Milla had a brain injury and was unable to walk, talk and had to be fed through a stomach tube.

In December 2016 when we were visiting my Mum's family in Indonesia, Milla passed away from sepsis infection.

Milla was always happy and smiling, even though she had many difficulties due to her disability. She had many operations in her life. We always remember her and miss her so much.

Throughout Milla's life, Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester provided amazing respite breaks for her. Not only did Milla enjoy a wonderful, warm, friendly and caring place, but Mum and Dad also had a chance to have a break. In fact I also had a few respite stays at Acorns. It is a fantastic place.

The Challenge

I was not able to walk until I was around 3 years old. I still find walking and running long distances tiring and sometimes difficult. My blindness means I need to be supported when I am outside as I can bump into things. So, to run 2 miles is a big challenge for me!

My Mum, Rini and my Dad, Tony, will be supporting me and running with me. The race course in Worcester is a beautiful place and sits next to the river Severn. I like it there because I also love horses!

I would love to raise £250 or more for Acorns Children's Hospice, so that they can continue to give other children like Milla wonderful care on respite breaks, as well as providing support and respite for their families.

Please help and donate to support me.

Thank you,

Louisa
