Story
I have always been passionate about Acorns Children's Hospices and all the wonderful work that they do with life limited children and their families. I am so lucky to have two healthy sons who very much enjoy everything life has to offer and I really want to help Acorns support those families who are not having it quite so easy.
Acorns have just launched an urgent appeal to save the Walsall Hospice. The decision to close this Black Country Hospice has been put on hold for four months following a commitment of significant new NHS funding from Black Country healthcare commissioners and an earlier announcement by NHS England that they will double their central funding support to the country’s children’s hospices over the next five years. This lifeline means that the hospice in Walsall can stay open to children and families until at least the end of March 2020. But they need to raise £2million to keep the hospice from closure altogether.
I am not keen on heights but I have felt compelled to do this Skydive ever since I first discovered it was a possibility. Now (after a month of trying very hard to dismiss the urge!) I have signed up to take part in the Acorns Children's Hospice Skydive on 12th October with my great friend Arabella!
If you can, please consider making a donation and make my taking this 'giant leap' outside of my comfort zone worth all the angst!
